Shame on me...
I just realized that I never wrote about how my first time back at skating went. Which it surprisingly went a lot better then I expected. I didn't fall at all. Although there were a few times that I was doing my best impression of a cartoon character with the windmill arms going...in other words my arms were swinging every which way to keep me from falling. I couldn't believe how much of a workout it was. Then again it didn't help that the rink didn't have like any air or fans on and it was a little warm outside. I was sweating so much but sweat is a good thing for losing weight!! I really enjoyed it though. It was hard to get back into it between remembering to actually push more side to side then back and forth. When skating you actually push your feet to the sides to move and I forgot to bend my knees. Which might be a problem for me since I have crappy knees. That'll happen when that lovely protective layer behind your kneecap is missing. So as you might imagine bending the knee to an extent is kind of a pain for me. But I think I can work through it and get better with the whole skating deal.
We had skated on and off for about 2 hours. I wish I could have skated non-stop a bit more but the night before I had to move a lot of furniture and my knees were already sore. It was a lot of carrying things up and down stairs. I don't even remember how many trips I made up and down the stairs so yeah it didn't take a lot of skating before my knees started to feel like jello. LOL I've almost thought about looking on E-bay for some skates but the problem is I wear anywhere from a size 9 to a 10. It just depends on the shoe. So it'll be too much of a risk that I get skates that don't fit. I'll probably just check Dicks and maybe this store not too far from me that's called Surf and Skate. I want to get a pair and be able to have wheels for outside and wheels for the rink. But it'll depend on how much they run. Hmm I just thought about it and I might even check like Wal-Mart or something like that. That would probably be cheaper then the other two options. Maybe today at lunch I'll go look into that and see.
